Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, met with the President of CSU, Tian Hongqi, and witnessed the signing of the Letter of Intent on Research Cooperation between the two universities
Yi Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of CSU, visited UoD to sign a Letter of Intent to create a joint research institute between the two universities and promote the declaration of a Chinese–foreign cooperative education institute
President of CSU, Tian Hongqi, visited UoD to advance the institute's declaration of cooperation

An agreement between CSU and UoD was formally signed creating a Chinese–foreign cooperative educational institute
The Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China approved the establishment of Dundee International Institute of Central South University
